ANNUAL MIAMI GARDENS ARBOR DAY SENIORS HOME BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAM
One Community Alliance Network is proud to host its annual signature fundraiser in support of a life-changing community project—rehabilitating and revitalizing the homes of elderly and disabled seniors in our community. Since launching this initiative, we have beautified 20 homes to date, transforming lives by restoring both homes and hope. Each year, we take on five homes belonging to seniors ages 62 to 94, including veterans, who often lack the technical know-how, physical ability, or access to traditional rehab programs.
Through this effort, we provide essential home improvements such as replacing windows and doors, painting, repairing sprinkler systems, laying sod, and landscaping. These upgrades not only enhance safety and comfort but also uplift the dignity, pride, and quality of life of our most vulnerable neighbors. Every completed project is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished through true Community Care.
This project is made possible by the generous support of local businesses, charitable organizations, elected officials, and caring individuals. It is a collaborative effort with the Miami Gardens Neighborhood Watch, Inc.—an umbrella organization for 11 neighborhood crime-prevention groups—as well as the vocational trade students of Miami Job Corps and Greater Miami Service Corps. Together with volunteers of more than 100 dedicated corporate and local civic organizations, we demonstrate the strength of collective compassion and action.
By joining our annual virtual fundraiser, you become part of this powerful movement. Your contribution helps us continue to restore homes, dignity, and faith in community—one home, one family, one neighbor at a time.
CONNECTING RESIDENTS TO RESOURCES - BRIDGING THE TECH & COMMUNICATIONS GAP
At 1CommUnityCan.com, we believe access to resources should never be complicated. Our innovative, easy-to-navigate virtual hub is designed to break down barriers and open doors for residents seeking community resources, assistance programs, small businesses, support groups, civic organizations, events, workshops, and more.
Unlike traditional searches that can be overwhelming and time-consuming, 1CommUnityCan.com offers a one-stop, user-friendly experience. With graphic cues, icons, photos, and video links, our platform makes information easy to understand for people of all ages, reading levels, and technical abilities. We proudly serve as a virtual bridge—like a community "Amazon"—connecting residents directly to the support they need.
While our platform is open to everyone, we are especially focused on reaching Black/African American and Hispanic/Latino communities, where access to information and resources can be more challenging. By maximizing comprehension and accessibility on both computer and mobile devices, we ensure residents spend less time searching and more time connecting to real opportunities.
ADVOCACY & SAFE COMMUNITIES
We collaborate with residents and local civic organizations, using our digital platforms to strengthen capacity, share resources, and amplify mutual advocacy efforts.
One Community Alliance Network's (1CAN) mission is to serve, educate, promote and advocate for strong, safe communities and to build unlikely community alliances and partnerships. We leverage community funds and resources for maximized impact with a philosophy of "The sum is greater than its parts". We identify gaps in services to conceptualize, develop and execute solutions to meet unmet needs in underserved communities. We connect residents to resources, promote civic engagement and community pride, and advocate for clean, safe and economically strong communities. 1CAN aspires to be the "Google" for community resources, a trusted source of information and the catalyst for collaborative community projects.
