The Miami Beach Botanical Garden is a serene 3-acre urban oasis, tucked away from the glitz of South Beach. It's a slice of paradise where residents and visitors can commune with nature. The Garden is a living museum that serves as a destination for the public, inviting both young and old, from around the corner or around the world, to view our diverse subtropical collection of rare palm species, orchids and cycads. The Garden's habitat hosts wildlife including butterflies, migrating birds, fish and turtles. Visiting children especially love chasing the butterflies and feeding the fish.
We strive to be a fountainhead of sustainability by offering green living education. We encourage the public to reduce their carbon footprint by participating in our compost initiative where their food scraps are processed into nutrient rich soil. We maintain an apiary to help educate our visitors about the importance of plant pollination. We are firmly committed to minimizing the use of commercial fertilizers that directly impact everyone's water supplies. Educational horticulture seminars and workshops are offered monthly, teaching botanical best practices to all levels of garden lovers, and our annual Earth Day Celebration provides a platform with other environmental nonprofits who want to share their messages.
The Garden is a mecca for the cultural arts, serving as a stage for visual and performing artists. A schedule of live musical performances, as well as a monthly rotation of art exhibitions and collaborative programming with other dance, film and art organizations brings a wide audience to experience the beauty of nature in the heart of Miami Beach.
The generous support received during Give Miami Day is essential to delivering on our mission.
