Key Biscayne Presbyterian School

A quality early childhood education provides the foundation for a lifetime, and the values established when we are young provide direction for the future. At Key Biscayne Presbyterian School, we focus on providing our students with learning experiences that support their academic growth and help build positive values. One of the values we prioritize is caring for the world around us. Our Outdoor Classroom, spacious playgrounds, and school garden all offer our students opportunities to connect with nature authentically and learn the importance of stewardship of our natural resources. Last year, thanks to our generous donors, we purchased a new chicken coop for our flock, which allowed us to expand our outdoor classroom and build a new roof area over a part of the classroom. 

This year, we will use donations to purchase new, custom-built playhouses for the Toddler/PK 2  and PK 3  playgrounds (a generous friend of KBPS has already donated a beautiful playhouse for the PK 4/K/1st playground. Providing children with inspiring spaces is essential to early childhood education and will offer them opportunities for rich imaginative play. This kind of experience allows children to build cognitive and social skills. Engaging in the scenario-building and the storytelling that goes along with playing in a playhouse brings problem-solving and imagination to bear. Working together as they create complex scenarios also exercises perspective-taking, which is important for building empathy.
