Since establishing in 2012, iAM ABLE has provided mentorship and training to over 250 participants through more than 20,000 hours of direct service. Our programming has directly resulted in both positive mental and physical effects in the participant's lives including regaining independence, furthering their education, returning to work, and boosting daily health. The founders of iAM ABLE understand the need for mentoring and activity-based therapy.
The programming at iAM ABLE is unique and the only one of its kind in South Florida. We provide help to the paralysis community which is often overlooked. With this initiative we are trying to reach and assist more people in need while making the programming more accessible. Paralysis affects both physical and mental well-being. And makes it difficult to gain a positive quality of life without the proper integrative services in place. A study by WellFlorida Council in collaboration with the State of Florida's Department of Health, defined the following as some of the biggest issues faced by the paralysis community such as spinal cord injury: access to information & education, access to opportunities for healthy living, and access to services that promote independence. Our program works to address these basic needs, in addition to any issue our participants may run into throughout their time with us.
