Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami

Since its founding in 1989, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami has built more than 1,300 homes and served over 3,000 low-income partner families throughout Miami-Dade County. To date, Habitat has built and rehabbed homes in Liberty City, Little Haiti, Little River, Overtown, Miami Gardens, Highland Park, South Miami, West Perrine, South Miami Heights, Goulds, Princeton, Homestead and Florida City.

By placing families in affordable homes, the Habitat program aids the renewal of Miami's most challenged communities through the coordinated efforts of engaged individuals and the investment of the local corporate, civic and faith communities. The objectives of the organization's work includes: 1) building new homes on acquired lots, 2) providing families in the program with the necessary knowledge to be successful first time homeowners, and when possible - 3) completing exterior paint and landscape improvement for owner-occupied "non-Habitat" low-income homes through the A Brush With Kindness campaign.

Miami Habitat continues to collaborate with a wide of community partners to fulfill its mission. These include corporations, community-based organizations, lending institutions, faith groups and churches, small businesses, and local government. These partners are both volunteers to help build the homes, as well as highly-valued funding sources. Through grants, bequests, House Sponsorship, Team Builds, individual donations, fundraising events, and online campaigns, Miami Habitat is able to continue building quality affordable housing for those families in Miami-Dade that just need a hand up to achieve their dream of home ownership.
