Our GiveMiami Day focus is our Crossings and Corridors Project which we have launched along with our partners at the Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Wildlife Corridor Organization. This project not only impacts all Floridians, but can also have a global effect in highlighting the importance of crossings and corridors.
Here are some important highlights of this project:
- Wildlife issues related to crossings and corridors are a global issue that happen not only in Florida, but across the US and around the world.
- Collisions with wildlife cost the US approximately 8.3 billion dollars each year.
- In the last five years, 24 people lost their lives in Florida due to vehicle collisions with wildlife.
- These crossings and corridors also allow for water in Florida to flow and helps to make sure we all have drinking water.
