Florida Immigration Law and Justice Center (Florida ILJ) is an affiliate site and member of the National National Immigration Law & Justice Network. We have been serving in South Florida since 2014, and we have become familiar with the challenges and unique identities that are present in the Miami area. Annually, Florida ILJ serves an average of 230 clients. We know the immigration system, and we know that these cases take time and expertise. We also do everything we can to help every person who enters our doors. Even if we are not able to represent a client, we provide them with the education they need to avoid immigration fraud. Our legal services are not just forms; they are the chance to live without fear of tomorrow.

Florida ILJ helps all clients regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or ability. Historically, the US immigration system has been extremely difficult to navigate without legal representation. Language and education barriers also affect low-income immigrants, leading them to face deportation and family separation despite having perfectly acceptable cases because they cannot afford representation to help them navigate the US Immigration system. As an immigration legal aid non-profit composed of a staff for whom the majority have a personal experience with immigration for themselves or their families, Florida ILJ attorneys are able to empathize with the experiences and needs of immigrants coming from nations where they faced persecution based on their religion, national origin, political opinion, race, or membership in particular social group. With the help of Florida ILJ, immigrants receive legal representation, education on citizenship and the immigration system in general, and hope that their dream of safety in the US can be realized.

Giving Activity

Mission

Florida Immigration Law & Justice Center is an immigration legal service non-profit that provides free legal counsel to low-income immigrants and their families throughout Florida but specifically in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa Bay. In South Florida, we work primarily with immigrants seeking asylum due to persecution suffered on account of their race, religion, national origin, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group. We are a part of the National Immigration Law & Justice Network, and we are an outreach ministry of the United Methodist Church. As an organization, our mission is to safely welcome immigrants to the United States by providing free, high-quality legal services at no charge, advocating for immigrants rights at the state and national level, and offering education on issues facing immigrants to the general public.
