Brazilian Voices is more than a vocal ensemble. We are female vocalists, artists-in-residence, and teaching artists who use the power of music to inspire, educate, and connect.

We bring music where it is needed most: to schools, hospitals, and community centers serving children with limited access to the arts. At Miami Learning Experience School, dedicated to children with disabilities, and at the Boys & Girls Clubs, our singers create joyful, interactive experiences. With simple rhythms, repeating phrases, and playful instruments, children are encouraged to participate, discover their voices, and explore new ways of expressing themselves. On special occasions, we have even invited children with disabilities to join us on stage, giving them the chance to share the spotlight, perform alongside us, and celebrate their own artistic abilities in front of family and community.

We also bring music into hospital rooms. At Holtz Children’s Hospital, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Alex’s Place, and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute Pediatrics—within Miami’s public hospital system—our teaching artists sing for children in ICUs who are enduring some of the most difficult moments of their young lives. For a few minutes, the sterile environment transforms: a song softens fear, a rhythm sparks a smile, and music creates a space of comfort and connection for children, their families, and even the medical staff.

Here are just a couple of stories:

    1.    At a performance for children and adults with disabilities, a mother shared that her son—usually hesitant to attend class—rushed past her to the activity room as soon as he saw the Brazilian Voices singers arrive. Teachers often report how these visits uplift students, fostering joy and engagement.

    2.    A teacher at Miami Learning Experience School shared that a non-verbal student, typically unresponsive, immediately begins singing and dancing when Brazilian Voices performs. The teacher said, “We wish you could come every week—she would be in heaven!”

For many of these children, attending concerts or receiving private lessons is out of reach. Brazilian Voices fills that gap—bringing culture, education, and the joy of music directly to them. Every smile, every rhythm tapped, and every phrase sung becomes part of their journey of growth, healing, and self-confidence.

On Give Miami Day, your support helps us continue this work—training and sending teaching artists into schools, hospitals, and community centers, nurturing creativity, and opening doors to a future where all children, regardless of ability or background, can experience the transformative power of music.

Join us in investing in culture, education, and the next generation. Together, we can make sure every child has the chance to find their voice.

Mission

“Rooted in the richness of Brazilian culture and its fusion with American jazz, we sing to uplift, educate, and promote wellness and healing. Through performances in diverse venues and healthcare settings, we build bridges of harmony within our community and beyond.”
