Great Futures Start Here

For 80 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade has been part of the lives of generations of children and families in our community. Our Clubs are places where young people can be safe after school, get help when they need it, discover new interests, build confidence and begin imagining what their future can look like.

That work continues every day.

We serve children and teens from kindergarten through 12th grade, providing much more than a place to go when the school day ends. Our programs combine academic support, mentoring, enrichment, health and wellness, sports and recreation, and college and career preparation, all within an environment where young people are surrounded by caring adults who know them, encourage them and want to see them succeed.

Through Project Learn, children in kindergarten through fifth grade receive the support they need to build a strong academic foundation. Members have access to homework assistance, computers and the internet for school assignments, literacy development through Playbooks Reader’s Theatre, and hands-on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Learning at the Club also happens beyond the classroom. Children participate in arts and crafts, health education, mentoring, family engagement activities, sports and physical fitness through the evidence-based SPARK program. Together, these experiences encourage creativity, teamwork, healthy habits and the confidence to try something new.

We also recognize that every child learns differently. BGCMIA has been able to retain State of Florida Board Certified teachers who provide tutoring to students who need additional academic support, as well as Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Specialists who work specifically with children with disabilities. Approximately 15% of the children in our programs have a disability, making access to this individualized support especially important for the children and families we serve.

As our members grow older, Great Futures for Teens helps middle and high school students prepare for what comes next.

Our teens receive academic support along with opportunities in college and career readiness, STEM, arts and recreation, sports, physical fitness, mentoring and leadership development. They explore careers, strengthen workplace and life skills, learn about college and other post-secondary pathways, and connect with adults and professionals who can introduce them to opportunities they may never have considered.

Because for a teenager, the question is not simply, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

First, they need the opportunity to discover what is possible.

That is what happens inside our Clubs.

A child who is struggling with schoolwork gets the extra help they need.

A young person discovers an interest in technology, science, art or sports.

A teenager meets someone whose career opens their eyes to a completely different future.

A child has a mentor who notices when something is wrong, celebrates when something goes right and continues showing up.

And a parent can go to work knowing their child has a safe place to be when school lets out.

Your Gift Creates Those Opportunities

When you give to Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade on Give Miami Day, you are helping put those opportunities within reach for more young people.

Your gift helps provide qualified teachers and ESE specialists, caring mentors and Club staff, academic support, technology, STEM activities, sports and recreation, creative experiences, and college and career preparation.

But ultimately, your gift provides something even more important: opportunity.

The opportunity for a child to catch up.

The opportunity to discover a talent.

The opportunity to meet a mentor.

The opportunity to prepare for college or a career.

The opportunity to feel safe, supported and understood.

The opportunity to believe that their future can be bigger than what they see today.

This year, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade celebrates 80 years of serving our community. It is an extraordinary milestone, but our greatest responsibility is not simply honoring the generations who came before us. It is making sure we are here for the generations still to come.

There are children walking into our Clubs today whose stories are only beginning. Future teachers, entrepreneurs, artists, engineers, athletes, healthcare professionals, business leaders and community changemakers are among them.

They may not know yet where their lives will take them.

Our job is to make sure they have the support and opportunities to find out.

This Give Miami Day, we invite you to be part of their story.

For 80 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade has helped young people build great futures. With your support, we can make sure the next generation gets its chance, too.

Mission

The Boys and Girls Clubs (BGC) of Miami-Dade was founded in 1946. Throughout the years, we have provided thousands of youth from low and moderate income families a safe haven away from bad influences during the most vulnerable times of the day when school is out. Every year we strive to find exciting ways to improve/adapt our programs and services to keep them relevant, interesting, educational, and current. We make sure to listen, assess, and respond to the changing needs of our youth, families, and community as a whole. Our mission is to "enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens."
