Alliance for Aging

A nonprofit organization

The Alliance for Aging is the Area Agency on Aging for Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Incorporated in 1988 the Alliance is a private not-for-profit agency that together with its network of agencies that it funds ensures that elders in need - especially those who are low-income, disabled, living alone, receive services that reduces the risk of placement in nursing homes. These services help people remain at home and in their own communities.

The Alliance operates the Aging & Disability Resource Center, which receives more than 100,000 calls annually where the elderly, adults with disabilities and caregivers can get information about how to access the services they need. Through the network of provider agencies, the Alliance funds services such as meals, help with bathing, light housekeeping and other services that help older people live in their own homes. The Alliance is the also first step to Medicaid Long Term Care services.

With the funding received by the Alliance more than 2,000,000 congregate meals and 1,000,000 home-delivered meals were provided. There are more than 16,000 older adults and adults with disabilities waiting for home and community based services in the area served by the Alliance.

The Alliance for Aging is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization. Its financial commitment is to dedicate 90% of all non restricted donations received to enhance our wide array of services we provide to the elder population of South Florida.
