EDUCATION:
Science education has never been more essential for enabling healthier drinking habits, wise water decisions, sustainable practices, and inspiring water-conscious interest in areas like urban and industrial development, farming, nutrition and domestic use. Our programs offer to embed water science into our STEM curriculum to instill awareness toward our most valuable resource and empower positive change through equitable access.

- In partnership with Miami Dade County Public Schools and FNEI, we dedicated our first-ever program to generating community impact through water science education by supporting nine Title 1 / STE(A)M designated elementary schools-and benefiting their 4,405 students-throughout the 2021-2022 school year .

- In 2023, the Frost Science Museum and Weo Foundation are combining health and science education to take informal science education to Title 1 schools across South Florida in partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS). This initiative offers professional development initiatives and resources for teachers that bridge formal and informal chemical education around water science, empowering young learners to participate in scientific inquiry and build a more sustainable future.

RESEARCH:
- In collaboration with the Department of Earth and Environment at Florida International University, our first research program is assessing the quality of water used in field crops and in animal farms. Different quality parameters are evaluated, including physical parameters, metals, inorganic ionic compounds, volatile organic compounds, pesticides, and biological organisms in 30 farms. This new research provides an overview on the quality of water used in the agriculture sector for major commodities throughout the state of Florida.

Mission

We believe optimal health begins with the essential molecule of life that is needed by every living thing - including the food we eat. It's understanding the origin, properties and benefits of the water we use daily. Hand-in-hand-with scientists, educators and local communities, we support the water research and education that is vital for our future.
