Urban Reflections, Inc.

Established in the year 2000; by two sisters (Angela & LaWanda Bailey), that saw a critical need and designed a unique, community based- mentoring program to serve as a resource for young women with similar backgrounds as theirs (reared in inner-city). Urban Reflections, has been transforming the lives of youth for 2 decades!

It takes a village to raise a child & that is why Urban Reflections strongly believes in the power of building partnerships with other community organizations. UR Inc. has partnered with: The Mourning Family Foundation (OYC & Honey Shine Inc.), Educate Tomorrow, MDCPS, HIS House & LEAP for Ladies, just to name a few.

The contributions raised through Give Miami Day, will be used as 'seed money' to prolong the consistency of our programs. See a few of our most effective programs below:

Fashioning Self Esteem Academy: #FSEA
The FSEA academy is a 6-week comprehensive program, meeting once a week for 60-90-minute sessions. The primary focus is nurturing positive self-esteem, building confidence, teaching the importance of mental health & self-care; our curriculum is designed to address the pressing issues affecting our youth today relating to self-worth, body image & coping with trauma.

Ready For the World:
Ready for the world is our life skills program. It prepares participants to be successful in the workforce. Our staff conducts social media workshops and invite HR professionals to host resume and interview sessions. For those participants interested in entrepreneurship, we help them develop a business plan, and facilitate workshops to teach the process to start a business.

S.T.E.M.:
This program is designed for students (grades 7-12). Students are given the opportunity to design, build, and program competition robots. The robot kit and parts are reusable from year-to-year while various programming languages are used. Teams during the season are required to develop strategy and build robots using sound engineering principles.
