With the onset of the pandemic, Urban Oasis Project chose to close all in person Farmers Markets and go 100% online, creating a virtual farmers market. This forced us also to relocate to a larger warehouse facility where we could prepack hundreds of customer orders from 25 vendors, keeping as many as we could well fed and in business. This also allowed us to create our Project Maracuya and Free Food Boxes for Neighbors in Need, which has supported hundreds of deeply in need people throughout the last 18 months with fresh produce and support. We have helped connect those people with more government assistance where available, expanded our network of SNAP customers, and are continuing delivery and outreach to low income communities throughout Miami-Dade, even as we reopened farmers markets in safe and supportive ways.
