Superheroes exist among us! Knowledge is the ultimate form of power and our skill-sets are our superpowers. We are all born with the capacity to take the path toward greatness and become a superhero or veer off track towards villainy. Our nonprofit organization bridges the gap between education and the economy by building a community of active youth leaders. This Youth Voice will lead us forward. We empower children who seek to continuously develop their superpower skill-sets as learners through collaboration, communication, and critical thinking to cultivate their own superhero identity, set an example, unite humanity and save the world. Our youth development programming reduce the risk of youth involvement in crime or violence by providing them the support and opportunities they need to redirect, empower and prepare them to succeed in academics, careers and life. Our collaborative model unites our Superhero Community Partners (SCP), academic, athletic and activist Superheroes who inspire students to become leaders uniting the education, economic, government, and nonprofit sectors. SLA provides mentoring and programming for youth, to help them gain opportunities and knowledge, that enable them to be the leaders of tomorrow and spearheads partnerships, to unite education and economic interests by creating positive learning opportunities at under-served schools and creating synergies between students and the industries that provide employment opportunities. Our focus is three-fold, college readiness, career readiness and crime-prevention, as we empower students to become active youth leaders (superheroes), in their own communities. This program includes field trips, guest speakers, and participation in our Summer and Annual Internship Programs.
