COVID-19 has given Miami YFC unique opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus by responding to the physical, mental, and social-emotional needs of youth. Our City Life KIX centers have distributed over 2,000 meals to at-need families since April, and our West Homestead & North Miami centers reopened their doors in August for youth who needed a place with reliable internet and academic assistance. Our Juvenile Justice and Campus Life programs have focused on serving youth struggling with suicidal tendencies and anxiety through online clubs - we've logged over 500 hours on Zoom and Instagram Live, and assisted multiple youth dealing with suicidal ideation and physical abuse. And our Catalyst program partnered with churches in June & August to deliver meals and back-to-school supplies to families from our afterschool program. This is in addition to all programs hosting online connection groups throughout the week and checking in with individual youth via secure-platform instant messages and phone calls.
