Miami Dance Futures Inc.

In 1988, Miami Dance Futures (MDF) was born. Over the course of 34 years, Miami Dance Futures has produced and provided support to local dance companies including Rosita Segovia's Ballet Español, Gerri Houlihan and Dancers, The Isadora Dance Ensemble, Jamaica Awareness, The Haunted Ballet, Christmas in the Gardens, Rudd R Dance Tour to Burkina Faso and co-produced National Water Dance, plus others, as well as producing from 1988-2023 the Dance Sampler, a showcase of dance in South Florida, an annual showcase of 10 of South Florida's outstanding modern dance companies. MDF has collaborated with Dance NOW! Miami and the New World School of the Arts renaming it The Daniel Lewis Dance Sampler, now held at NWSA. In addition, we have produced the following conferences. the highly successful Miami Balanchine Conference, the Dance History Scholars Conference, the American Guild Conference, The International Conference of Fine Arts Deans, and the American College Dance Festival. Over 35 thousand students, teachers and choreographers have been brought to Miami during our many festivals and conferences over the years. One weekend of a National High School Dance Festival had an economic impact of over 1 million dollars to the community.

We produced our first virtual "A Life in Dance", a performance for Miami Dade county students, presenting "No Strings in the Clouds. Daniel Lewis gave a master class, free to the dance community in Miami and invited the rest of the world to take the class online. Over 375 Students and Teachers from 14 countries and 17 states joined the class on line. The class was held and streamed out from the Banyan Bowl at Pinecrest Gardens in Miami.

Give Miami Day is an important day to give back to all the non-profits. As a leader in the arts community, I ask you to give back once a year and support the wonderful work we are doing for the arts today. Please help Miami Dance Futures continue its mission in supporting dance in our community.
