Hello, Thank you and Welcome to Kiki's Place of Care and Kindness' GMD 2024 page!

A Snapshot of 2024: For our small but mighty rescue, this has truly been Kiki's Place most challenging year yet! In the past 11 months, we have rescued and fostered 14 kittens and 2 adult cats and placed them all in forever homes; helped a neighbor rehome his 2 senior cats (he was moving & couldn't take); drove to Hialeah to pick up 4 bottle babies rescued by a former co-worker and arranged for fosters (all were adopted); dropped off emergency supplies for another fragile bottle baby at our vet's office and arranged for a temporary foster; helped a friend find homes for her 3 rescue kittens, helped another friend rescue a fragile bottle baby; arranged for a foster home for a senior cat that needed a temporary place to stay until adopted; TNVR’d 2 community cats that were too fearful of people to be adoptable; and humanely trapped an terminally ill feral senior colony cat for humane euthanasia. Many of the kittens and cats we rescued had a host of health issues, too – ringworm, mange, rare bacterial skin infections, URIs, and more. Not to mention the myriad needs of our 14 permanent rescue residents! Just last weekend, on Kiki's way home from a rescue transport, she helped to intercept 4 puppies being given away for free – full of fleas with some skin issues and are now being fostered with Kiki’s Place's rescue partner (the awesome This Is the Dog! in Homestead).

RESPONSIBLE RESCUE: Our goal is to provide each rescued or fostered animal at Kiki's Place with the love and attention, veterinary care, and the living space it needs for a quality, content life. Since 2007, we have rescued or sterilized/TNVR'd over 100 cats and kittens, including bottle-feeding orphaned and abandoned kittens. We have rescued, sterilized, fostered and placed four dogs, six puppies, and 65+ cats and kittens into loving, forever homes. Some of our rescued cats - most of which were stray, abandoned or at-risk colony cats that are considered poor candidates for adoption due to behavioral and/or medical issues - live permanently in a comfortable, loving and nurturing environment at Kiki's Place. A spacious "catio" with secure fencing is nearly 100% complete for these permanent residents. However, Kiki's Place is not an open-intake shelter or sanctuary, and due to very limited space, we take in and/or foster animals ONLY when space and resources allow us to on a case-by-case basis.

FOSTERING: Our goal is to partner with other reputable rescues (This is the Dog! has been our main rescue partner, assisting with adoptions and arranging the adoption transports to the New England area) and build a network of foster homes to help with the enormous need for home-based fostering. When needed, Kiki's Place will provide our foster homes with food, supplies, litter, and vet care and the foster parents will provide the care and love that all rescues deserve until a forever home is found.

ADOPTION: Kiki's Place is dedicated to rescuing animals and placing them in loving, permanent homes whenever possible. All adoptable rescues that come through Kiki's Place receive necessary veterinary care, such as being spayed/neutered before they are adopted out to a new home.

TRAP-NEUTER-VACCINATE-RETURN: Kiki's Place is committed to Trap Neuter/Spay Vaccinate Return (TNVR) - the most humane and effective means to control the community cat population. While we can't help every case, we assist or provide resources in the kindest responsible way possible to help people solve stray and abandoned cat issues.

Giving Activity

Mission

Kiki's Place of Care and Kindness (Kiki's Place) believes in the compassionate treatment of all animals and is dedicated to promoting responsible rescue and adoption for animals in need. We believe every animal is worthy of receiving loving care and kindness!

Kiki's Place is further dedicated to educating the public on responsible pet care including the importance and necessity of spaying and neutering to prevent pet overpopulation. Kiki's Place helps to guide and assist in efforts to place adoptable cats, dogs and other small pets into loving homes, and to advocate for, support and promote services in the community for stray, homeless and abandoned animals.
