Following almost three decades of work with young people in public schools in Miami, Tom Virgin is still brings printing opportunities to libraries and public spaces. You may have experienced this at Perez Art Museum Miami’s Kid’s JAMM@PAMM, Bookleggers Library, or even outside of a Walgreens window. Give Miami is still making it possible for Extra Virgin Press to continue working with young people. Their support keeps us giving our youth opportunities to tell their stories, putting ink on paper, and sharing it to their communities. 

We have been printing “old school” in Miami since 2017. Look for us to show up at Miami Book Fair, Locust Projects’ LAB Program, and Wolfsonian Museum’s Zine Fair.  In and around those public printing events, we demonstrate letterpress printing, book arts, and printmaking. Our Miami printers have shown their work in ICA Museum, PAMM, Bakehouse Art Complex, and the Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach. These days, Virgin’s teaching has even been extended to teach nice kids his age (55 and over) in PAMM’s Creative Aging Program.

Our mission has been enhanced by the recognition and support of The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, The Miami Foundation, the Knight Foundation, Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Initiative, Oolite Arts, Locust Projects LAB Program, O, Miami Poetry Festival, the Wolfsonian Museum and the engagement & support of former students, artists, writers, and organizations across Miami.
