Because Extra Virgin Press has seen every community partner close their doors during COVID-19, from the largest to the smallest, our biggest mission is keeping the studio running. We are still engaging the community that supports us in meaningful ways through community presentations (two are public on Fountainhead Residency and PAMM's YouTube Channels (look for Tom Virgin/Extra Virgin Press) and Zoom presentations with arts professionals. Our social media and website are in the process of being updated.
We are sending items out into the community via USPS, that keep our work visible to supporters. We are communicating with printers in other print communities around the United States and the world. Many of the most experienced printers in these traditional print communties have given us invaluable advice and best practice tips.
Extra Virgin Press can still print for community members, artists, writers, galleries, and institutions, remotely using information exchanged in short visits and phone calls. We will continue to create small edition books, posters, fine art prints and community resources. Our annual events with community partners and student interns, printing on table top presses are canceled through 2020.
We have worked with Oolite Arts, Miami Book Fair/the Porch, PAMM, Young Arts, Little Haiti Book Festival, Emerson Dorsch Gallery, Iris Photo Collective, Little Haiti Book Festival, Miami Dade County Public Schools, Florida International University, and many others. This will not last forever. We will print with you again.
