Extra Virgin Press

Extra Virgin Press has been printing in Little Haiti since 2017. We work with kids, writers, artists, community organizations and institutions all over Miami. We have printed remotely on portable presses at the Miami Book Fair, the Little Haiti Book Festival, Vizcaya, and Perez Art Museum Miami. We have worked with many writers and artists in the studio, including Master classes in letterpress, book arts, and printmaking. As a retired Art teacher, any chance to work with kids to share the history and accessibility of printing to the next generation is welcomed.

I have been printing for over thirty years with various processes since I earned a MFA in Printmaking in 1994 at the University of Miami. Adjunct teaching at UM, Miami-Dade College, and adult classes and workshops at artists residencies around the United States have built relationships at print and book arts centers nationally. During the years before Extra Virgin Press, Virgin worked with in-school and after-school programs created by MDC Cultural Affairs' Art in Public Places (Path Project), Arts4Learning, MDCPS Summer Youth Employment and Training Programs (SYETP) in Miami Beach and Allapattah, and other youth programs.

Our mission has been enhanced by the recognition and support of the Knight Foundation, Oolite Arts, a Wavemaker Grant, The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation; The John S. and James L.
