The Black Archives History and Research Foundation of South Florida, Inc.

The Black Archives serves local South Florida residents and beyond, through the preservation of South Florida's Black history, and making it available to the community through the archival collection. Black Archives programming attracts local and visiting guests; as well as national engagement around our initiatives. The Black Archives also serves residents of the Overtown and neighboring under served communities through employment training and job opportunities within the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater.

Since relocating from the Joseph Caleb Center to the Historic Lyric Theater in Overtown in 2014, the Black Archives has trained and hired over 200 employees through the years, for various event and facility-related positions. This has placed the organization in the unique position to have a 360-degree impact: by providing cultural impact through entertainment and educational programming, providing economic impact through the employment and training of residents, and impacting the tourism industry by presenting activity that attracts visitors to the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater in Overtown.
