From rising ocean temperatures to habitat degradation, South Florida’s bonefish are under increasing pressure! Donate to BTT to help make sure Miami’s sport fish are healthy now and for future generations.  

BTT has made promising discoveries about the return of bonefish in and around Biscayne Bay. To ensure the population remains healthy and robust, we need to continue to research tagged fish and the coral reef tract they depend on to spawn. It is essential we conduct this research now, before the next summer heatwave hits.

• Seeking improvements and funding for wastewater treatment infrastructure reform.

• Working with Miami-Dade County to develop a Reasonable Assurance Plan to improve water quality.

• Working with partners to set goals for nutrient criteria and seeking future funding from federal grants.

Healthy Habitat

• Participating on the Biscayne Bay Task Force to support the health of the Bay.

• Engaging with Biscayne National Park as it forms its management plan.

Sustainable Fisheries

• Conducting research on bonefish, tarpon and permit to sustain the valuable flats fishery in Biscayne Bay and the Keys.
