Founded in 1989, the Women's Emergency Network (WEN), believes that every individual has the right to decide if and when to have children.

WEN, in collaboration with health centers throughout South Florida and beyond, provides financial assistance and support to anyone needing access to abortion care, contraception, and/or other reproductive health care.

Mission

Our mission is to provide financial support and assistance to Floridians seeking reproductive healthcare services, particularly abortion and contraception, who face financial barriers. We support Floridians in accessing care in and out-of-state.

Currently, Florida law requires two in-person medical appointments at least 24 hours apart in order to obtain an abortion. We have a fifteen-week gestational ban and a six-week ban already signed by the governor waiting to go into effect. A six-week ban is essentially a full-ban on abortion in Florida. These severely restrictive laws create tremendous barriers that individuals may not be able to navigate in order to access the care they need. We already know that People of Color, especially young people, and those living in rural areas face disproportionate barriers to access abortion care. Our goal is to ensure that cost is not an additional obstacle for Floridians seeking an abortion to have to overcome.
