Florida Grand Opera (FGO) is passionately committed to making opera accessible, exciting, and unforgettable for young people across South Florida. Each year, FGO reaches more than 25,000 students in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, including those from over 50 Title I schools, through curriculum-aligned programs that transform classrooms into stages and students into engaged participants in the arts.

FGO’s educational initiatives go beyond performance, they integrate opera into the academic experience. Students attend final dress rehearsals, meet internationally acclaimed singers, and explore storytelling, voice, and civics through music. Teachers receive lesson plans that connect directly to literacy, history, and social-emotional learning, ensuring the impact lasts long after the curtain falls.

Key programs include:

• Pre-Opera Talk: A 45–60 minute in-school presentation by teaching artists that prepares students for their opera experience.
• H.O.P.E. Program: Offers low-cost or free access to dress rehearsals, with study guides and transportation support.
• MUSE: Integrates patriotic music into a curriculum aligned with Miami-Dade County Public Schools standards, enhancing civic understanding.
• Connections of the hART: Fosters unity and creativity by connecting students and artists through shared stories and talents.
• Opera Artistry: Empowers high school students through mentorship in visual and performing arts, encouraging collaboration and self-expression.
• ECHO (Empowering Communities through Hands-On Philanthropy): Teaches students the value of giving back through structured curriculum and mentoring.

These programs are designed to be flexible, inclusive, and impactful, offering concert performances, mentoring, and talkback sessions with FGO’s Studio Artists. The result is a vibrant, arts-integrated learning experience that supports cognitive, emotional, and social development.
