$10,000 Goal

Subtropic Film Festival is an annual short film festival and year-round community film initiative dedicated to elevating emerging South Florida’s independent filmmakers. The festival centers on short documentaries, narratives, animation, and experimental films that reflect the region’s rich cultural landscape. Through screenings, artist talks, workshops, and partnerships with museums and community organizations, Subtropic creates opportunities for filmmakers to share their stories and connect with new audiences. While the festival is open to all, it places a strong emphasis on inclusion. The goal is to support a broad and representative creative ecosystem that reflects the diversity of South Florida’s people and stories. Subtropic hosts events in both Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties, working with institutions like the Norton Museum of Art and South Florida PBS to reach audiences across the region.

Mission

Subtropic Film Festival celebrates emerging filmmakers in South Florida. Through screenings, events, and collaborations, Subtropic creates spaces where filmmakers and cinephiles can connect and engage in meaningful conversations.
