Friends of the Wynwood School of Music

Mission: Friends of the Wynwood School of Music (WSM) believes that every student in Miami-Dade deserves access to music education, ACT prep, and college readiness support, regardless of their socio-economic background. We collaborate with students to provide these essential services at no cost.

WSM was founded in 2024 out of the belief that every young person deserves access to music education, ACT preparation, and college readiness services, regardless of their socio-economic background. Dedicated to supporting students' overall development, WSM partners with school administrators and teachers to offer free music lessons, ACT prep, and college readiness programs to 10 students per year across Miami-Dade County. Our programs are designed to inspire students’ personal growth, enhance their academic skills, and prepare them for future success. By providing these resources, WSM helps students unlock their full potential, both academically and personally.

Not only does access to music education improve students' cognitive abilities and academic performance, but our ACT prep and college readiness programs further enhance their chances of academic success and college admission. WSM’s comprehensive approach supports students in developing essential skills, building confidence, and preparing for higher education and future careers. We meet students where they are and tailor our offerings to their unique needs, ensuring that those from at-risk backgrounds or growing up in poverty receive the support necessary for their academic and personal growth.

Our focus is on supporting Title I Schools and underserved communities. We work closely with music teachers and administrators to offer a range of services, including curriculum development, test preparation, and college planning assistance, ensuring that schools have the resources needed to help their students succeed academically and prepare for higher education.
