The Education for Democracy Project is a nonpartisan initiative of The Miami Foundation.
At a time of rising polarization, we advance a simple conviction: that the foundational tools of American democracy — the rule of law, due process, evidence, reasoned argument, and the moral courage to stand by them — are how a free and diverse people examine difficult questions together.
This year, that work has had a real impact on students, professionals, and faith communities: university students at Harvard, Duke and Northwestern engaging in rigorous, evidence-based debate; faith communities across the country engaging in mutual understanding; and nearly 1,200 books already placed directly into the hands of students and community members nationwide.
Your gift supports:
Civic literacy programming for students, educators, and community members
Professional development and classroom materials for teachers that increase interfaith understanding and combat anti-Semitism
Books donated to schools, libraries, and congregations
Public lectures and moderated conversations at civic institutions
The Education for Democracy Project is funded entirely by charitable contributions from individuals who believe in the power of civic knowledge and honest public discourse. Gifts of any size help us reach more students, train more educators, and bring more community voices into the conversation.
