Due to the Covid -19 pandemic JNAF is faced with many challenges include limited funds to support our community outreach projects. We had to cancel all our fundraising events, our humanitarian medical mission trips to Jamaica, and moved our monthly meetings to a virtual platform. However, on May 3, with bravery and innovation we held our first zoom virtual service to kick off National Nurses Week celebration 2020. It was the "International Year of the Nurse and Midwife" at that time we were still able to award our annual "Ralph Farquharson Scholarship" to a deserving nursing student.
The constraints of Covid 19 pandemic did not deter us from caring and serving our community. We delivered care meals for many Covid-19 frontline responders. Donated back-to-school supplies for students across the county. JNAF also partnered with CHI Health center doing Covid-19 on site testing in South Miami. One of our members, a Covid-19 frontline responder is a health care advocate and panelist appearing weekly on the Business Wednesday show on Gotowebinar, host by the MBDA Covid 19 Initiative Recovery Program for small and minority businesses. The focus is education to the public following the CDC and health department safety practices and guidelines to mitigate the risk of spreading the coronavirus and addressing mental health concerns.
To stay true to our mission and commitment for education advancement, we will be awarding our annual scholarships virtually in November, both in the USA and internationally. Given that we are not able to host our fundraising events to support our projects, because of the Covid-19 pandemic social distancing mandates. All members include the executive team are volunteers, who selflessly give of their time and resources for the advancement of the organization.
JNAF is a 501 C 3 nonprofit organization, and it is your generous donation over 37 years have being sustaining the organization.
We are kindly asking for your financial support, so we can continue to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of our fellow citizens.
