Hialeah-Miami lakes Senior High (HML) has a rich history of tradition and excellence in Miami-Dade County. HML serves four cities: Hialeah, Opa Locka, Miami Lakes, and Miami Gardens. Unsurprisingly, our students are 98% minorities and mostly qualify for free & reduced lunch. 80% of our students are Hispanic, 16% are Black, 2% are White, and 1% are Asian.

The PTSA hopes to provide supplemental opportunities for students and the community to engage in STEM education once the Ken Mattingly Planetarium is fully restored and renovated in 2024. Funds received will go towards the securing of curriculum, materials, and shows for the use and enjoyment of all our surrounding cities populations. We will serve pre-schools, elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as adult centers and retirement communities. Imagine learning from watching shows ranging from cartoons, to history of the universe, to the creation of life and evolution in the dome. We hope that by increasing early exposure and interaction with STEM, the interest and enrollment in STEM careers of minority students in M-DCPS will increase.
