First United Methodist Church of Miami

For nearly thirty five years, FUMC has served the homeless population of Miami. Twice a week, we provide clean showers, hygiene kits, hot coffee, and fresh food to our unhoused siblings downtown. It is a time to nourish the body and soul. Meals are prepared by various groups throughout Miami during the week before. This is an opportunity for any individual, family, or workplace to give back and make a difference in people's lives. A worship service for the homeless is also prepared on Sunday mornings by a rotation of leaders including a time of prayer. This is one of the central components of our community life and essential to who we are as a church. For years, volunteers from both our church and the community, including those of other faiths, have come to provide nourishment to those most in need. During the holidays we offer a special meal and gifts. In the winter, blankets are provided to each person. The relationships that have been built during these years have been lasting and many persons who receive from the ministry now come and assist with meal preparation and distribution.
