Bookleggers Library

Your donation is the difference between a book hiding unused in the bottom of someone’s bedside table, or a book gleefully making its way to a new reader.

Bookleggers gives donated books to everyone through creative programs, mobile outreach, and Miami's first and only free bookstore.

Did you know that since 2012, Bookleggers has given away 202,980 free books across Miami-Dade? By tonnage alone, that’s more weight than 16 adult elephants, or 20 school buses.

Across all those years and programs, what’s really happened, though, is not simply the shifting of pounds of paper. It’s the spark of connection, and the open arms of community.

Your donation brings Miamians together, for the love of books, with support for the following programs:

- Bookleggers Free Bookstore is open Tuesday - Sunday, 12 - 5pm in the Bakehouse Art Complex - 561 NW 32 ST, Miami, 33127.

- The Traveling Book Trailer moves across the city to give away free books, unfolding as a mobile bookshop in any parking lot or open space. Your donation will allow us to send the trailer to more book deserts in Miami-Dade.

- Family Learning Programs like ADVENTURE-LEGGERS and Saturday Storytime for Kids, where we combine free books, art, mindfulness, and hands-on learning to foster a love of reading.

If you’re looking for a suggested amount, consider this:

• $35 is the cost to sort and shelve 100 donated books, passed on from one reader to the next.

• $70 covers the cost of 10 lunches served free of charge to all kids who attend the Adventure-leggers festival.

• $150 covers costs for an upcoming Sunday workshop in the bookstore.

• $250 covers one Storytime, where children and families gather to listen, dance, and act out stories.

• $500 is half the cost of a Traveler Book Trailer pop-up at a Miami book desert.

• $1,200 is the cost of one day of keeping the free bookstore open.

Thank you for giving... and thank you for reading! (It's our favorite).

PS: Join us at Miami Book Fair, Nov. 20 - 22. We're taking the book trailer downtown to give away thousands of free books!
