Every new parent deserves a trusted guide in the first year with a new baby. Cost should not decide who gets help.
THE NEED
The weeks and months after birth, often called the fourth trimester, can bring sleepless nights, feeding struggles, anxiety, and hard questions with nowhere to turn. CDC research shows about 1 in 8 women with a recent live birth report symptoms of postpartum depression, and more than half (53%) of pregnancy-related deaths in the U.S. happen between one week and one year after delivery. CDC also found that more than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable. For Miami-Dade families facing financial barriers, getting timely, expert support in this window can be out of reach.
WHAT WE DO
Sleep & Cradle Foundation is a Miami-based 501(c)(3) (EIN 33-2054121), led by President Cynthia Unuigbe, MD. Working with community partners, we identify Miami-Dade families facing financial barriers and sponsor them into physician-led postpartum care navigation:
- Two weeks of 24/7 telehealth navigation right after birth, so parents can reach physician-led guidance any time, day or night.
- Eleven months of continuity care with educational resources and ongoing support, so no family is left on their own after the first weeks.
A full year of support for one family costs $3,600.
YOUR IMPACT
- $50 funds a care-coordination check-in
- $100 funds a month of continuity care
- $2,500 funds two weeks of 24/7 telehealth navigation
- $3,600 sponsors a family for a full year
GIVE MIAMI DAY GOAL
This Give Miami Day, $25,000 to start sponsors about 6 families. With a match partner, we'll raise it to $50,000 to sponsor 12 families. Every gift brings a new parent one step closer to the care they need.
We're a young foundation running our first community campaign, and your gift goes directly to sponsoring families. Sleep & Cradle Foundation is an independent nonprofit. Care is delivered by our care partner, Sleep & Cradle® Health, at a board-approved rate; our President, who owns that company, recuses herself from those decisions.
