GFWC Miami Springs Woman's Club is a 501 (c)(3) charitable and educational non-profit organization comprised of volunteers. We are proud General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) members. Founded in May of 1939, the Miami Springs Woman's Club has been a significant charitable, educational, and social presence in the community. Please support us and make someone's life better.

You can help fund our club's programs and initiatives and the charities we support:

Club Scholarship Fund provides financial support for students to help them improve their college experience. We're not just helping fund their education; we are helping these students transform their lives. These scholarships are a community effort because the number of scholarships and the amount given depends on the generosity of our donors (all donations are tax-deductible) and the amount of money raised by our club through fundraising events. The scholarship fund consists of the Lena Pearl Wheeler Nursing Scholarship, the Arts High School Scholarship, and the Jennifer Ator Scholarship, funded by the Ator Family. Food backpacks include healthy, easy-to-prepare food for kid-friendly meals. That way, kids return to school on Monday, ready to learn. MSWC sponsors over 35 food-insecure children year-round.

Since 2016, the GFWC Miami Springs Woman's Club's Community Health & Wellness Fair brings together a diverse group of health providers and service organizations offering FREE health education, resource information, screenings, immunization (Flu and Shingles), and MORE for all ages! It's a wonderful day for the Miami Springs and neighboring Communities to inform themselves and enjoy the much-anticipated wildlife show, bounce house, DJ, FREE barbecue hotdogs & refreshments, and door prizes! CLICK HERE and see it for yourself.

GFWC Florida Federation of Women's Club's District 11 comprises 12 clubs, ours included. Every state president during their administration chose a pet project for all the clubs to support, and President Linda O'Toole selected Camp Boggy Creek. Throughout her administration, we will be raising funds to support this amazing Camp, in addition to all of our club's other charities and initiatives.

Camp Boggy Creek allows children with serious illnesses to enjoy a camp experience in a safe, medically- sound environment. The Camp serves children ages 7-16 diagnosed with a serious illness. Camp Boggy Creek can help thousands of campers and their families as a year-round retreat through activity-packed weekly and weekend camp programs. The Camp offers children the chance to catch their first fish, go horseback riding, or climb our ropes tower, all while making new friends, which serves as a reminder that they are not alone.

This building has been home to the Miami Springs Woman's Club since its construction in 1949. Mrs. H Sayre Wheeler (Lena Pearl Wheeler, Glen Curtss' widow), a club's founding member, donated the land. It's membership fundraised to build it.

The structure is an Art Deco building with some elements of the Pueblo Revival style, such as rounded corners. Andy Plassey, a pioneer settler, constructed it. The Clubhouse was designated a Miami Springs Historic Site in 2006. This Clubhouse desperately needs historical restoration and renovation to preserve its structure, which is significant to the community.

This structure holds many stories about how the community was and how it has evolved. Its members helped beautify the city, supported war efforts by working for the Red Cross making surgical dressings, sewed and repaired thousands of Army garments, sold war bonds and stamps, helped equip the Casualty Station in Miami Springs and ambulances,  did blood drives, created a medical loan closet, which continues to provide medical equipment to the community at no charge, it created a Youth Conservation Committee which helped start the Miami Springs Recreation  Center, it was the first municipal library in Miami Springs before moving all it's books to the current local Public Library. These are just a handful of contributions this club has made to our country, community, and residents.   The membership strongly continues with its charitable and educational mission, so it is important to maintain and celebrate our history by preserving our Clubhouse.
