Miami Association of Indian Americans For Culture and Arts

The organization was conceptualized in fall 2016, by like minded Asian Indian American residents of Miami Dade County, committed to promoting, celebrating and sharing Asian Indian art and culture in all its myriad forms. The organization was incorporated on Aug 10, 2017 and the first event took place on Friday, October 13, 2017. All work is done by volunteers, contributing their time, money and resources and seeking the same from other community members.
Prior to the conception of the organization, a group of like minded individuals from different parts of Miami; Coral Gables, Coconut Grove Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, would organize events, to celebrate Indian festivals like Diwali, Garba Raas, Holi by pooling their resources. They would plan the event, prepare a task list, a budget and distribute it evenly amongst the group. It was more or less a "Pot-luck" version of celebrating ethnic festivals, concerts, film showings, picnics, culinary events and art shows.
In August, 2017, after few years of having group effort events or pot-luck or pay-as-you-go events, the organization was officially registered as an a non-profit organization on Sunbiz in the state of Florida. Thus MAIACA- Miami Association of Indian Americans for Culture and Arts, was born. MAIACA as the name suggests, was formed to promote Indian art and culture through events and organized activity amongst all Indophiles of Miami Dade County.
