This program is designed to address unemployment due to criminal history, lack of education, or lack of entrepreneurial skill that many young men in high risk communities face.We believe that if we actively seek to engage, teach, and employ those that have or are statistically likely to become involved with gun-violence due to economic disparity, then they will take a 180 approach to how they relate the need to avoid gun violence to their peer and others in the community. Additionally, our networking opportunities help to build communication and commonality between community residents, law enforcement, fire fighters, and local government officials to work collectively to reduce gun violence.

Encouraging Dreamers Breaking Barriers (EDBB), was established in 2017, with one goal in mind; to make a positive difference in society. This organization was founded to help remove barriers among youth and young men between the ages of 14-30, living in the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County. Our mission is to provide effective hands-on mentoring. We expose our participants to entrepreneurship opportunities and educate them through our financial, professional and life skills training courses.
Economic stability and individual self-esteem are the primary needs being addressed by this proposed continuation of services. The intent of our services is to provide alternative life choices for young men living in poverty and surrounded by negative cultures and community norms. To offset one individual participant will have an impact on no less than three generations of the family unit. The parents of the participants relieve emotional relief from worry of their child’s future and danger on the street of their community when unemployed. This is in addition to the additional income for the household. The participant gains immediate economic viability, and business/life skills that can transfer to any vocation or business of their future choice. Finally the participants current or future children will be given a better economic start than the participant. This is in addition to the life skills, knowledge, and guidance the participant can now provide on how to make better life choices that will lead to a better life. In all this project seeks to offset generational poverty and reduce the potential for those living in poverty to engage in crime.
