Every Child Deserves to Read. Period.
Learning to read changes what is possible for a child. But too many children in Miami-Dade begin school without the early literacy skills, books, and support they need to become confident readers.
At Uplift Literacy, we're working to change that by making literacy support part of a child's everyday life—at school, at home, and throughout the community.
About Us
This past year, Uplift Literacy:
Reached 1,660 children through literacy programs and experiences
Supported 1,375 parents and caregivers with tools and strategies to help their children learn at home
Distributed 3,659 brand-new books throughout our community
Through ReadingPals, 126 volunteers supported 250 students across 20 sites, showing up week after week to help young readers build the skills and confidence they need.
Breaking Barriers by Raising Readers
At school, ReadingPals volunteers provide consistent literacy support to PreK–3rd grade students.
At home, families receive practical strategies, activities, and books they can use to support learning every day.
In the community, programs like Books Around Town and Pages in the Park bring books and literacy experiences into the places where children and families already spend their time.
And we're seeing the difference. ReadingPals students have demonstrated strong growth in foundational literacy skills, while 100% of surveyed parents and caregivers reported learning new strategies to support their child's literacy development.
Take Action
This Give Miami Day, Help Us Raise More Readers.
Your gift helps put books into children's hands, equips volunteers with engaging literacy materials, gives families resources they can use at home, and brings literacy experiences to more children throughout Miami-Dade.
